ESTECHMAGNETICS.COM | 785-806-5211 4 ESTECH MAGNETICS PRODUCTS 2025 What is FLEX™ Technology? FLEX™ Technology allows Estech’s Talon brackets to conform to a range of convex, concave, and flat surfaces without measurements. The magnetic pads are able to pivot to the tangency of the surface profile automatically during installation, supported by stainless steel “tendons” which allow the entire bracket body to be monolithically constructed. This compliant mechanism technology brings out the capability of lamina emergence and the strength of neodymium magnets. ESTECHMAGNETICS.COM | 785-806-5211 5 ESTECH MAGNETICS PRODUCTS 2025 What is the HoverBOLT™ System? Estech’s range of medium and large magnetic strength brackets now feature patented HoverBOLT™ setting and removal technology. As Estech’s magnetic systems grew in size and strength, a new way of controlling the installation, positioning, and removal was needed. The HoverBOLT™ technology features a series of nylon tipped bolts as a scratch-resistant stand-off gap, temporarily reducing the magnetic force to the surface until the installer is ready for final placement. HoverBOLTS™ are also used to lift and release the magnetic systems with control. Placement, adjustment, and removal are now commanded and controlled with a ½” socket wrench even on the record-setting 70,000 lb magnetic force corral systems.
ESTECHMAGNETICS.COM | 785-806-5211 6 ESTECH MAGNETICS PRODUCTS 2025 Standardized Magnetic Testing Procedure (SMTP): Testing Program and Specifications Written by: Eric Stechmann, Estech LLC Purpose: A precise, repeatable method for determining real-world bracket embodiment performance from industrial magnetics is desired within the telecommunications industry. This testing procedure uses average circumstances seen in installation locations and provides the ability to test tension forces on a variety of angular point locations within the magnetic bracket body. This test will better allow the industry to record and predict real-world bracket system performance in average circumstances prior to deployment in industrial outdoor settings. A flat plane of steel which is analogous to AWWA and NACE standards can be produced in a modular form on a facility concrete floor for the purposes of this test. Materials: • 3 feet by 3 feet square mild steel plates with ½” bolt locations • Polyurethane coatings applied within 10-12 mils onto the blasted, clean surface of the plate material • 5,000 pound load cell, traceable calibration, with a remote digital interface • Digital angle gauge • One or multiple video camera locations to document the procedure • One video camera location to document the maximum tension (pounds) prior to performance yield • Gantry system that is capable of floor-parallel and floorperpendicular tension up to 5,000 pounds • Gantry system pivot cam pully system that is able to slide and fix into place the exact position of cable placement • Pulling tension force may be induced by (hand, ratchet cable binder, winch or vehicle hitch) • All safety and PPE materials and practices Tested Load Requirement Each magnetic bracket embodiment will be tested along a combination of tensile directions. Tension attachment locations shall be recorded and height above steel surface also recorded. • X-Axis 0 Degrees • X-Axis 30 Degrees • X-Axis 45 Degrees • X-Axis 60 Degrees • Y-Axis 0 Degrees • Y-Axis 30 Degrees • Y-Axis 45 Degrees • Y-Axis 60 Degrees • 90 Degrees on centroid of magnetism Yield Definition Magnetic force will be tested to the yield condition of the bracket embodiment. For the purposes of this testing procedure, the yield point will be defined as the average maximum tension force experienced which induces a kinetic deflection along and within .25 inches of surficial movement along the length of travel. A marking scale can help with visualizing this .25 inch reference such as a length of contrasting tape. Up to three tests may be necessary to produce a repeatable, clear average of tensile force. For the purposes of this testing procedure, the yield point will be defined as the maximum tension force experienced at the vertical (90 degree) pull off breakpoint experienced if tested perpendicular to the floor. Reporting Results from these calibrated tension forces will be aggregated into a spreadsheet with each procedure as the vertical column and the bracket embodiment as the row.
ESTECHMAGNETICS.COM | 785-806-5211 7 ESTECH MAGNETICS PRODUCTS 2025 Important Notes This test is focused on creating an analogue of a real-world scenario into a facility that is able to produce tension into a focused and calibrated area. The steel plates are specifically made to National AWWA water tower coatings standards with 10-12 mils of coating thickness and a coefficient of friction that is similar to that experienced on most water towers. A NACE and AWWA compliant zincrich primer is advised to be applied to the steel prior to application of a polyurethane coating system. Depicting a horizontal tipping breakpoint at about 3 feet above the floor. This setup is adjustable. Depicting a horizontal shear breakpoint at about 3 inches above the floor. This setup is adjustable. Depicting an angular tipping breakpoint at about 1 foot above the floor. This setup is adjustable. Depicting a vertical pull-off breakpoint at centroid to magnetism. This setup is adjustable.

ESTECHMAGNETICS.COM | 785-806-5211 23 ESTECH MAGNETICS PRODUCTS 2025 Magnetic Force Testing on Sidewall72FLEX X&Y Axis Yield Definition Magnetic force is tested to the yield condition of the bracket embodiment. For the purpose of the calibrated testing procedure, the yield point is defined as the average maximum tension force experienced which induces a deflection along the given axis of up to .25 inches parallel to the tested steel surface. Z Axis Yield Definition The yield point is defined as the maximum tension force experienced at the vertical (90 degree / Z axis) pull of breakpoint experienced if tested perpendicular to the floor. Reporting Results from these calibrated tension forces are aggregated into a spreadsheet with each procedure as the vertical column and the axis in the horizontal column. Please see below table for product testing of the Sidewall-FLEX-72 magnetic bracket. Video of all tests further record and confirm performance data. Please refer to Estech’s Standardized Magnetic Testing Procedure Testing Program and Specifications document for further information. Table 1: Working Load Table — 2X Safety Factor Recommended by ESTECH Estech recommends a safety factor or 2X when the consumer load is compared to calibrated factory tested ultimate load data. This table below will aid in determining the correct magnetic bracket size for needed capacity. An on-center spacing of no more than 5 feet is specified on this magnetic bracket system. Table 2: Working Load Table — Performance Data Testing by ESTECH This magnetic bracket has been factory tested in a calibrated condition. Many factors influence the magnetic performance in outdoor settings such as; steel type and thickness, temperature, moisture, thickness of coating systems, coefficient of friction of coating system and direction of force. Estech has used 1/4” mild steel with a 10-12 mil AWWA compliant coating system at 70° Fahrenheit average at all stated axis and variable angular directions of tensile pull force (lbf). Magnetic force improves with; thicker steel, ferrous metal, thinner coatings, rougher coatings, colder temperatures at dry conditions. Estech formulated this calibrated test standard to best model conditions commonly seen on water tower and similar outdoor settings. Note: these are ultimate loads.
